Terms of service

These terms are the agreement between you and Alpha IT Solutions Ltd for using BuildEstimate, which means the web app at build-estimate.app and our iOS and Android apps. We're a company registered in England and Wales, company number 15837037, with our registered office at Tallow Close, Dagenham, RM9 6EF. You can reach us at hello@build-estimate.app.

By creating an account or using BuildEstimate you accept these terms. If you don't, please don't use it.

1. Who can use it

You must be 18 or over. BuildEstimate is made for tradespeople and building firms, and we expect you to use it for your trade or business. Signing up for a company? Then you're confirming you're allowed to accept these terms on its behalf.

2. Your account

Use a real email address and keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens under your login, so if you think somebody else has got in, change the password and tell us straight away.

3. The free trial

New accounts get 7 days free, or 14 if you join through another user's referral link. No card needed.

The trial never turns into a paid plan on its own. When it ends your account locks until you choose a plan, and we keep your data for 90 days after that so you can pick up where you left off. After 90 days we may delete it.

4. Plans and payment

BuildEstimate costs £20 a month or £220 a year. You subscribe on our website and Stripe takes the payment, so we never see or store your full card number. The price you pay is the one shown at checkout.

Your card is charged when you subscribe, then at the start of every month or year until you cancel. If a payment fails we may lock the account until it's paid.

Prices can change. When ours do, we'll email you at least 30 days before you're charged the new amount, which gives you time to cancel first if you'd rather not pay it.

5. Switching plans and cancelling

You can move between monthly and annual from the Billing page. Moving to annual happens straight away, and the unused part of your month is credited against the annual price. Moving from annual to monthly waits until the year you've paid for runs out.

Cancel whenever you like, from the same page. You keep access to the end of the period you've paid for and we don't charge you again. We don't refund part-used months or years, except under the guarantee below or where the law says we must.

6. 30-day money-back guarantee

Not happy within 30 days of your first payment? Email hello@build-estimate.app and we'll refund that payment in full. No reason needed. The guarantee sits on top of your legal rights and doesn't replace any of them.

7. Your data

What you put into BuildEstimate stays yours, from client details and projects through to the photos and drawings you upload. We use it only to run the service for you, as our privacy policy explains. We don't sell it. We don't train AI models on it.

Quotes and invoices download as PDFs, and your VAT figures export as a CSV file, whenever you want them. You can delete your account yourself from Settings; what we keep after that, and for how long, is in the privacy policy.

When you store your own customers' details in BuildEstimate, you're the controller of that personal data and we process it for you. That means we act only on your instructions, which are these terms and the way you use the app. We keep the data confidential and secure, use only the sub-processors named in our privacy policy, help you answer your customers' requests about their data, delete it when you close your account unless the law makes us keep something, and tell you without undue delay if a breach affects it.

8. What the AI gives you

The AI suggests quantities, prices, job plans and readings of your drawings. Treat all of it as a first draft. It can misread a plan, miss an item or price something wrongly, so check every figure before a quote goes out. The price you send is your decision.

So is the tax treatment. BuildEstimate works out VAT, CIS deductions and the reverse charge from the details you enter and the general rules for the country, which isn't the same as advice from an accountant who knows your business. Our guides are general guidance too, not legal or tax advice.

9. Quotes your clients approve

Your client can approve and sign a quote online, and BuildEstimate records when they did it. Any contract that follows is between you and your client. We're not a party to it, and we can't guarantee they'll pay.

10. Fair use

Don't use BuildEstimate to break the law or to send people messages they haven't asked for. Don't upload anything you haven't got the right to use, or anything carrying malware. Don't try to get round our security, overload the service, scrape it, copy it or resell access to it. We can suspend or close an account that does.

11. Keeping it running

We aim to keep BuildEstimate running around the clock, but we can't promise it will never go down: maintenance interrupts it now and then, and so can a problem at our hosting or payment providers. Features will change as the app develops, and some may be retired.

If we ever close BuildEstimate for good, you'll get at least 30 days' notice, time to export your data, and a refund for any paid time you won't be able to use.

12. Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't let us limit.

If you use BuildEstimate for your business, we aren't liable for lost profits, lost jobs, lost business or indirect loss. For anything else our total liability to you in any 12-month period is capped at what you paid us in that period.

Using it as a consumer? You have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. These terms don't take any of them away.

13. Who owns what

The BuildEstimate software, name, logo and guides belong to Alpha IT Solutions Ltd. While your account is active you can use the app for your business, and the quotes and invoices you make with it are yours.

Downloaded the iOS app from the App Store? Apple's standard licensed application end user licence agreement also covers the app itself.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For any change that matters we'll email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. Carry on using BuildEstimate after that date and you've accepted the new version; if you'd rather not, cancel before it starts.

15. Law and disputes

The law of England and Wales governs these terms, and its courts handle any dispute. Consumers living in Scotland or Northern Ireland can also bring a claim in their local courts.
